| | MC Navi 0.2.4 released Posted by Mike on Thu 11.Feb.2010, 17:07 (56 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| I have created first public version of MC Navi - GPS navigation for car and outdoor with OpenStreetMap maps. It would be better, if it will be backed by some better site, because it seems for a larger project. So go to www.gps-routes.info for more info and for downloads. There is more space for forums and for future maps. I have also created Debian repository on this server for easier instalation of MC Navi and also my other programs for Neo Freerunner. Add this line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
deb http://www.gps-routes.info/debian sid main
You can install from this repository for Neo Freerunner and for AMD64 and i386.

First version of MC Navi Posted by Mike on Sun 03.Jan.2010, 17:27 (196 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| | Sometimes it is needed to say - stop! Programming is never ending story so there must come the day, when you release something. It's not final, it's buggy, but is a preview of the work. So if someone wants to test the first public version of my GPS navigation project, can download it here. Provided are versions for Debian GNU/Linux AMD64 and for Neo Freerunner and map converter for Debian AMD64.

My current project for Neo Freerunner Posted by Mike on Tue 08.Dec.2009, 18:00 (1011 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| Just to let you now, what I am doing right now with my Neo. I'm working on a car, bike and outdoor navigation with vector maps imported from OSM data. The status is:
- drawing map works, but needs improvements
- simple GUI based on EFL
- finding route between cities works, but is currently slow, needs optimizations
- can show map position with gpsd, but no navigation yet
- snapping to roads
What needs to be done:
- routing between addresses
- routing from current position to destination
- navigation
There is a lot to do, but I expect first public version around turn of year. Two screenshots are inside the article.

ENeoLock Posted by Mike on Wed 02.Sep.2009, 18:59 (560 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| | ENeoLock is screen locker inspired by Zedlock. Zedlock was written in python using GTK and Cairo, so start up was very slow, so I have rewritten it using Edje. It only locks the screen and provide no other information, it will be added later (write me, if you need it). You can set eneolock as external screen locker in Enlightenment. Download package for Debian armel and source codes. Picture is inside this article.

New version of eneoset and intone Posted by Mike on Mon 31.Aug.2009, 18:03 (219 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| I will no longer compile Enlightenment for Neo, since it is now in official Debian repository. Also all new programs will be compiled against Debian repository, so if you have used my compiled packages, please upgrade.
With that here is improved version of eneoset 0.2 with removed USB current switch and only information about current in Info page. Download eneoset 0.2 for Debian armel and source codes.
And if you use intone, here is newer version 0.66, also using Enlightenment libraries from official repository.

| | I have finally made the USB host cable for Neo Freerunner and it works very well. I can connect USb hub with many devices. Mouse and keyboard works and also all my external memories - USB flash drive, USB hard drive and SD card reader. Now I can backup data from my camera or camcorder with Neo on holidays. Picture is inside the article.

Neo Setup updated Posted by Mike on Thu 16.Jul.2009, 12:06 (301 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| | I have reinstalled kernel on my Neo to standard kernel in Debian repository. The name of the kernel is long, so it didn't fitted to screen. So here is another version of Neo Setup, which fixes it. Download eneoset 0.1.1 for Debian armel and source codes.

Neo Setup released Posted by Mike on Wed 15.Jul.2009, 19:36 (315 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| After learning ELM programming with EChrono I have done something more useful. I was not satisfied with the setup utility for Neo written in Python, because it was slow and changing backlight brightness was only in 4 steps. So i have created small utility with ELM named eneoset, which can change backlight, turn on or off bluetooth and Wi-Fi and can change USB device/host mode. Changing USB current limit still doesn't work. It needs kernel version 2.6.29, so don't try it on 2.6.24. FOr screenshots look here.
Download eneoset 0.1 for Debian armel and source codes.

EChrono released Posted by Mike on Mon 08.Jun.2009, 13:38 (376 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| To learn programming with Enlightenment, i have ported my previous Chronometer, which used GTKmm library, to Elemenatary. Here is EChrono with the same functionality, but using Enlightenment libraries, which are best for Neo Freerunner.
Download EChrono 0.1 for Debian armel and source codes.

FBReader for Neo Freerunner Posted by Mike on Mon 01.Jun.2009, 9:14 (361 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| Original book reader FBReader is on Freerunner hard to use, because of tap scrolling (needs to tap without movement) and switching to fullscreen (can't press enter without keyboard). So i have added switching to fullscreen with tap to the center of screen and increased maximum movement to 50 pixels, so it can be touch with finger easily.
I have renamed the Debian package to fbreaderm, so it will not collide with fbreader version numbering. Download binary here and source code here.

Chronometer for Neo Freerunner released Posted by Mike on Sun 29.Mar.2009, 19:14 (1025 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| If you find no software you need, the best way is to make a one. That was my problem with stopwatch (yes I like running in a nature), so I have programmed Chronometer (Stopwatch is already in Debian repository, but as very old and slow Tk program). It is in early stage - it has stopwatch with split, big display and big buttons. In future I will add lap counter.
You can download Debian package for armel and source code.

Debian on Neo Freerunner Posted by Mike on Thu 15.Jan.2009, 10:32 (610 reads) Topic: Neo Freerunner
| | Two months ago I bought Neo Freerunner phone. After trying other distributions, i have ended with Debian. I don't use it as phone already, only as PDA. After playing with Xfce I compiled Enlightenment E17 from SVN, because it was not in Debian repository. Now it is, but only the relase version without Illume theme for mobile devices. If you want to download it and see my experience, please look here.

My first project under Linux - GNOME Optical tools Posted by Mike on Wed 01.Oct.2008, 21:14 (725 reads) Topic: Linux
| 2 years ago I have began experimenting with Linux and in this time, Linux became my main operating system. It has many advantages over Windows, more possibilities to study new things, create scripts to perform repeated tasks, so it was only matter of time to start with some real project.
GNOME Optical Tools (got for short) is software for info and checking of optical drives a media under Linux. Currently it supports CD and DVD only and is based on Qpxtool, which does the same (and more), but under QT3. GNOME Optical Tools needs Gtk++, so it is best run under GNOME as the name says.
More info and download can you find here.

First public (experimental) version of ATV3 released Posted by Mike on Mon 07.Apr.2008, 7:04 (1114 reads) Topic: Windows
| Here is first version of ATV3 - digital (DVB-T) viewer, still under development and preview release only. Implemented main functionality for reception, teletext and EPG. There is no OSD and no capture, it will be implemented in future versions. It requires DVB-T card with BDA drivers, DirectX 9 and ffdshow installed. Release notes:
- first public release
- implemented main functionality for viewing of video stream
- needed Video Mixing Renderer 9 (VMR9) for future functionality
- needed ffdshow video decoder
- implemented DVB sections reader for channel scanning and EPG
- rewritten teletext decoder filter from ATV2000 to support VMR9 mixing (some bugs expected for use with ATV2000, so it is not recommended to use ATV2000 and ATV3 at the same time with teletext)
- implemented base EPG data viewing, will be rewritten
